In Chaungzon Township, Mon State, the Myanma Agricultural Development Bank (Chaungzon Branch) has been disbursing monsoon agricultural loans for the 2025 planting season since May 19 to support timely paddy cultivation by local farmers.

As of July 4, a total of K 228.975 million has been disbursed to 2,196 farmers from 35 villages, covering 15,265 acres of farmland.

“The Bank plans to provide monsoon agricultural loans at a rate of K 150,000 per acre for paddy fields, amounting to a total of approximately K 5.166 billion. Disbursements will continue for the remaining farmers to ensure timely paddy planting,” said Daw Thita Htun, Manager of the Township Myanma Agricultural Development Bank.

According to the Township Agriculture Department, 65,309 acres of rain-fed rice are planned for cultivation in 2025. So far, 39,725 acres have been planted. The department is also conducting fieldwork to provide farmers with necessary agricultural technologies and inputs in a timely manner.— Ko Kyaw (Chaungzon)
