DEPUTY Minister for Trans­port and Communications U Lu Mon attended the inaugural Global Digital Forum held from 5 to 6 June in Nizhny Novgorod, the Russian Federation.

At the opening ceremony on 5 June, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Mr Dmitry Yuryevich Grigorenko, Nizhny regional chief Mr Gleb Nikitin, officials and delegates from 110 countries participated.

 

 

During the forum, the dep­uty minister held a separate meeting with Ms Bella Cher­kesova, Russian Deputy Min­ister of Digital Development, Communications and Media, to discuss boosting trade through digital technology, addressing regional technology gaps, read­iness, advantages, challenges and opportunities for Myan­mar-Russia cooperation.

 

He also attended minis­terial-level discussions led by Russian Deputy Foreign Min­ister Mr Sergey Vershinin and visited the related exhibitions.

 

Several digital technology cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed between Russian and international non-govern­mental organizations attending the forum. — MNA/KZL
