During the asterisk marked question and answer session of the eighth-day meeting of Second Amyotha Hluttaw’s 12th regular session held yesterday morning. Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Maj-Gen Aung Thu said Myanmar Police Force (MPF) was raising Gender Sensitivity Awareness and was preparing for Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism for third cycle.

At the meeting Naw Hla Hla Soe of Yangon Region constituency 10 raised a question on plan to raise Gender Sensitivity Awareness in Myanmar Police Force personnel. Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Maj-Gen Aung Thu replied that Gender Sensitivity Awareness was raised in Myanmar Police Force personnel through training courses conducted in cooperation with UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime).

Dr. Khun Win Thaung of Kachin State constituency 11 also raised a question on readiness to submit a report for UPR third cycle. Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Maj-Gen Aung Thu who was also the Secretary of the national level Committee on Implementing Recommendations of UPR said great emphasis was placed toward including in the National Report progresses of human rights situation in Myanmar and to let the world know about it.

Questions raised by U Ko Ko Naing of Sagaing Region constituency 8 and U Htein Win of Ayeyawady Region constituency 4 were also answered by Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Maj-Gen Aung Thu.

Questions raised by U Soe Thein of Kayah State constituency 9 on maintaining Ayeyawady River and U Khin Myo Win of Taninthayi Region constituency 12 on converting an old airfield into a recreation place for the public was answered by Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Kyaw Myo.

Questions raised by U Zon Hle Htan of Chin State constituency 4, U Pyu Lwin of Magway Region constituency 12, U Sai San Aung of Shan State constituency 12 and U Tin Aung Tun of Magway Region constituency 5 on teaching ethnic Chin language in Chin State and Sagaing Region schools, transfer of school teachers, upgrading of a school and plan to construct a new school building were answered by Deputy Minister for Education U Win Maw Tun.

Hluttaw discuss fourth bill amending the Union Judiciary Law

Afterwards, U Soe Thein @ U Maung Soe of Taninthayi Constituency 10 and U Tin Aung Tun of Magway Region constituency 5 discussed the fourth bill amending the Union Judiciary Law.

It was learnt that the ninth-day meeting of the Second Amotha Hluttaw’s 12th regular session was scheduled to be held on 22 May.
