MYANMA Railways (MR) will expand its service for Yangon circular railway and other rail lines, said an official of MR.
MR will start running the new schedule from 16 June to contain the spread of infectious disease and ensure physical distancing of the commuters, with more schedules added for Yangon circular railway and other rail lines.
The expansion plan includes Yangon-Mandalay No. 5 and 6 (up and down) trains with the departure at 3 pm and arrival at 7:30 am, stopping at Bago, Toungoo, Pyinmana, Nay Pyi Taw and Thazi stations.
Another rail line is Yangon- Mawlamyine No 81 and 82 (up and down) trains (with the departure at 8:00-8:15 pm and arrival at 5:45-6:30 am), and it stops at Toegyaungkalay, Bago, Waw, Kyaikto, Taungzun, Hninpalae, Thahton and Paung stations.
Additionally, Yangon-Pyay No 71 up train will depart at 1 pm and arrive at 8:45 pm, while No. 72 down train will leave from Pyay at 10:30 pm and arrive Yangon at 6:15 am. The train will stop at Hlawga, Taikkyi, Thayawady, Letpadan, Minhla, Oakpho, Gyobingauk, Zegon, Nattalin, Paungde, Padegon, Thegon and Sinmeeswel stations.
Moreover, another extended schedule for Mandalay-Myitkyina rail line is No. 57 up train with the departure at 8:45 am and arrival at 4 pm, whereas No. 58 down train from Myitkyina will leave from the station at 4 pm and arrive Mandalay at 11 am, with Ywahtaung, Shwebo, KhinU, Kantbalu, Kyunhla, Koetaungbo, Kawlin, Wuntho, Nangkham, Maezar, Indaw, Nabar, Mawlu, Nansiaung, Mohnyin, Nangmar, Hopin, Pinbaw, Mingon, Moegaung and Nammatee stations.
Furthermore, Yangon circular railway will also add the trains during the rush hours for Yangon-Insein, Yangon-Paywatseikgone and Yangon-Toegyaungkalay.
At present, Yangon circular railway run 40 rounds per day, with eight trains. MR will increase the schedule to 52 rounds with 11 trains.
The price of train tickets will remain unchanged. The detail of train schedules has been posted at the respective train stations, according to the MR.
