Local and foreign experts met yesterday to finalize draft nomination dossiers to enlist ancient city MraukU, Rakhine State, to the World Heritage Center of UNESCO as a world cultural heritage zone.
The meeting held at the Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library in Hlaing Township of Yangon office was attended by.
At the meeting, the deputy minister said, “All the experts are suggested to discuss the draft nomination dossiers for MraukU ancient city before submitting it to UNESCO for the world cultural heritage site after checking the facts and its history.”
Rakhine State minister U Kyaw Aye Thein also updated the undertakings for their government in the sectors of management, finance, funding and supports to the locals.
Then, the Director General of Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library, the experts, and members of committees and sub-committees discussed the draft proposal in detail.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
