DEFENDING champions ISPE FC and Ayeyawady FC claimed wins on the first day of the 2025–2026 Myanmar Women’s League, which kicked off on 22 April.
At Yangon United Sports Complex, ISPE FC defeated Yangon United 2-1. The match featured an early showdown between last season’s champions and runners-up, with ISPE FC taking all three points. ISPE started aggressively, with goals from Shwe Yi Htun in eight minutes and Moemama Soe in 21 minutes, giving them a two-goal lead within 20 minutes. Yangon United pushed for a comeback and found the net through Su Su Kyi in 60 minutes, but failed to equalize. Shwe Yi Htun was named Player of the Match.
At Padonma Stadium, Ayeyawady FC secured a 3-0 win over Shan United. Both teams had prepared well for the new season, but it was Ayeyawady who emerged dominant. Goals were scored by San Thaw Thaw in 40 and 50 minutes and Naing Naing Win in 82 minutes. San Thaw Thaw, who netted twice, received the Player of the Match award.
The second-day match continues today with Myawady FC facing YREO FC at Thuwunna Training Ground 1 and Thitsa Aaman FC taking on Young Lionesses at Padonma Stadium. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
