Chairman of the State Administration Council Command­er-in-Chief of De­fence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a del­egation led by Deputy Minister for Defence of the Russian Fed­eration Col-Gen Aleksandr Vasi­lyevich Fomin who attended the 80th Anniversary of Armed Forc­es Day parade at the parlour of Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

At the meeting, the Senior General expressed his thanks to the Russian Deputy Minis­ter for attending the 80th Anni­versary of the Armed Forces Day Parade and the orchestra of the Russian Federation for performing entertainment in Myanmar, and welcomed them warmly. The Russian Deputy Minister for Defence said that he was grateful to the Senior General for extending the in­vitation to his delegation and himself to attend the 80th An­niversary of the Armed Forces Day Parade and took pride in their attendance at the cere­mony.

Their discussions focused on Russia’s standing with My­anmar in the international are­na while Myanmar is standing with Russia, and the promotion of cooperation in military tech­nology and aerospace technol­ogy.

They cordially exchanged views on long-lasting diplomatic relations between the two coun­tries and the promotion of coop­eration and cementing friendly relations, discussions on bilat­eral cooperation between the two countries during the official State visit of the Senior General to the Russian Federation in a meeting with President Mr Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation, exchange of good­will visits of naval vessels of two armed forces, learning of military and civilian scholar­ship students from Myanmar in Russian to produce necessary human resources for Myanmar, exercising independent, active and non-aligned foreign policy by Myanmar, activities of Myan­mar in following the five-point principles of Peaceful Co-exist­ence, further promotion of coop­eration in all sectors including defence, economic, cultural and religious sectors, cooper­ation in humanitarian meas­ures, and endeavours between Russia and Myanmar to further strengthen friendly relations for many years.

After the meeting, the Sen­ior General presented a medal in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Armed Forces Day and gifts to the Russian Deputy Minister for Defence who returned gifts to the Sen­ior General. They all then had documentary photos taken to­gether.

Also present at the call together with the Senior Gen­eral were SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Command­er-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Kyaw Swa Lin and senior Tatmad­aw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief. The Russian Deputy Minister for Defence was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Rus­sian Federation to Myanmar Mr Iskander Kubarovich Azizov, Chairman of the Public Council of the Russian Federation Mr Pavel Nikoleaevich Gusev, Mili­tary Attaché of the Russian Fed­eration to Myanmar, high-rank­ing military officers from Russia and officials. — MNA/TTA
