Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye attended a donation ceremony of Myanmar ASEAN Women’s friendship Association to One Stop Women Support Center of Department of Social Welfare in Bahan Township Yangon yesterday afternoon.
The ceremony was attended by Myanmar ASEAN Women’s friendship Association chairperson Daw Lwin Lwin Hman, Singapore Ambassador to Myanmar Ms Vanessa Chan, general secretary Dr Mya Thida, wife of Indonesia Ambassador to Myanmar Madam Yenny Noviyanti, women diplomat representatives from embassies of Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, Lao, Cambodia and Philippines and officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In his address to the event, the Union Minister spoke of works conducted by the ministry for women, planned usage of the donation, and the benefit of the donation to the One Stop Women Support Center.
Next, Singapore Ambassador to Myanmar Ms Vanessa Chan explained about the reason of donating to the One Stop Women Support Center.
Afterwards Myanmar ASEAN Women’s friendship Association donation of K 15 million was received by the Union Minister and officials who in return presented document of honor.
Following this, Department of Social Welfare director explained about prevention and responding to gender based violence in Myanmar.
After the ceremony, the Union Minister and Myanmar ASEAN Women’s friendship Association members observed the livelihood training provided for women in the center and also encouraged young women cared by the center.—MNA (Translated by Zaw Min)
