MYANMAR badminton star Thet Htar Thuzar won the Egypt International 2019 tournament yesterday by beating Jordan Hart from Wales with a two-match win in the final of the women’s singles event of the tourney at Cairo City, Egypt.
Thet Htar Thuzar dominated the play and won the final by a 2-0 result. The first match ended with a big 21-6 win for Thet Htar Thuzar, and Jordan Hart conced-d defeat in the second match which ended with a score of 11-1.
The Egypt International 2019 was held from 17 to 20 October in Cairo and Thet Htar Thuzar won decisive victories throughout the tourney.
In the round of 32 of the women’s singles event, Thet Htar Thuzar beat Egyptian play-er Jana Hesham Mohamed Ab-delkader by 21-4 and 21-7.
Next, in the round of 16, Thet Htar Thuzar beat India’s Ritika Thaker by 21-17 and 24-22 to enter the quarter final.
In the quarter final, she beat Indian Kanika Kanwal by 21-14 and 21-17. In the semifinal, she beat Peru's Daniela Macias by 21-8 and 21-13. With the win in Egypt, Thet Htar Thuzar has chalked up seven international titles within a year, and she is currently in a good position for qualifying for the women’s badminton singles event in the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
