CHAIRMAN of the State Admin­istration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who attended the Sixth BIMSTEC Sum­mit hosted by Thailand held talks with Prime Minister of Bhutan Mr Tshering Tobgay at Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok this afternoon.

 

At the talks, the Prime Minister of Bhutan said that regarding the losses and damages caused by the severe earth­quake in Myanmar, His Majesty the King is deeply saddened. His country has al­ready dispatched rescue and relief teams to Myanmar and is currently assisting. Bhutan will continue to provide the nec­essary support for Myanmar.

 

The Senior General responded that he was deeply grateful to learn of the goodwill and kind intentions held by His Majesty and the people of Bhutan towards Myanmar. Although it has now been six days since the powerful earthquake struck Myanmar, there are still successful res­cues of survivors as of yesterday. He also sincerely thanks the Kingdom of Bhutan for its assistance and involvement in My­anmar’s rescue and relief efforts.

 

They also cordially discussed cooper­ation in the health and education sectors between the two countries, the exchange of cultures, the promotion of cooperation in other potential sectors, and further en­hancements of friendly relations between the two countries.

 

Also, present at the meeting were Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Union Ministers U Than Swe and Ad­miral Moe Aung and senior officials. The Bhutanese Prime Minister was accom­panied by officials from the Bhutanese government.

 

After the meeting, they exchanged commemorative gifts. — MNA/TTA
