LOCAL companies in Myanmar are now preparing to export Seintalone mangoes to the Russian market by sourcing high-quality produce directly from mango farms, according to U Kyaw Soe Naing, Secretary of the Myanmar Mango Market and Technology Development Association.

He explained that starting this year, the Russia-Myanmar Business Council and its member companies will begin purchasing both fresh and dried mangoes from Myanmar. Companies intending to export to Russia are encouraged to contact the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations for necessary arrangements.

“This year, Russia is in a position to purchase as many fresh and dried mangoes from Myanmar as it can receive. This is essentially a new export market. Exporters and companies are now inspecting farms to secure quality mangoes. They are assessing which farms produce good quality, which do not, the best harvest times and the number of mangoes they can buy. Based on these findings, purchase orders will be placed. From what I know, around three companies are currently preparing to export mangoes to Russia,” he said.

Currently, Seintalone mangoes are in their early harvest period and fetching favourable prices. Companies preparing for export are actively visiting farms during the peak mango season to negotiate prices and purchase quality mangoes suitable for the Russian market. — Min Htet Aung (Mandalay Subprinting House)/KZL
