A ceremony to inau­gurate the Consu­late-General of My­anmar in Novosibirsk of the Russian Federation took place at Grand Autograph Hotel in Novosibirsk, Russia yesterday morning, attended by Chairman of the State Administration Coun­cil Prime Minister Senior Gener­al Min Aung Hlaing.

 

They all saluted with the songs on national anthems of the Republic of the Union of Myan­mar and the Russian Federation.

 

On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Min­ister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe delivered an opening ad­dress, saying that Myanmar and Russia have maintained diplo­matic relations for 77 years, and the opening of the Myanmar Con­sulate-General in Novosibirsk marks a significant milestone in their bilateral ties. Novosibirsk, a major economic, trade, techno­logical, industrial, and financial hub in Russia’s Asian region, is the only Russian city with direct air links to Myanmar. The estab­lishment of the Myanmar Consu­late-General in Novosibirsk aims to strengthen relations between Myanmar and Russian citizens residing in the region, enhance mutual understanding between the two countries, support the Myanmar community in the area, and provide consular services.

 

The Governor of Novosibirsk said that he was very delighted at establishment of the Myanmar Consulate-General in Novosi­birsk. This opening will create great opportunities for cooper­ation between Novosibirsk and Myanmar. The signing of the sis­ter city memorandum of under­standing between Mandalay and Novosibirsk is also a significant step towards strengthening col­laboration. Novosibirsk will con­tinue to work towards enhancing cooperation with Myanmar, with wish for the prosperity and de­velopment of both our countries.

 

The mayor of Novosibirsk also extended greetings.

 

The Senior General, the Deputy Prime Minister and Un­ion Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Governor of Novosibirsk cut the ribbon to open the Myan­mar Consulate-General.

 

On arrival at the Myanmar Consulate-General in Novosi­birsk, the Senior General was welcomed by staff members of the Consulate-General. The Sen­ior General sprinkled scented water on the signboard of the consulate-general.

 

Also present at the ceremo­ny were SAC Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Council member General Nyo Saw, Union Ministers U Than Swe, Admiral Moe Aung, Dr Kan Zaw, U Ko Ko Lwin and Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Fed­eration U Thit Linn Ohn, deputy ministers, Governor of Novosi­birsk Mr Travnikov Andrey Al­exandrovich, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Myanmar, the Myanmar Con­sul-General and officials from the Consulate-General, officer trainees learning in Novosibirsk and guests.

 

The Senior General met with families of the Consulate-Gener­al and officer trainees learning in Novosibirsk. He explained needs to promote friendly relations and cooperation between Myanmar and Novosibirsk, development of trade, and plans to send more scholarship trainee to universi­ties of Novosibirsk, and fulfilled their needs.

 

The Senior General present­ed foodstuffs and cash awards to families of the Consulate-Gener­al and officer trainees.

 

After signing the guest book of the Consulate-General, the Senior General cordially greeted families of the Consulate-Gener­al and officer trainees. — MNA/ TTA
