AT the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Mr Sihasak Phuangketkeow, a Myan­mar delegation led by U Than Swe, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of My­anmar, currently on an official visit to Phuket, Thailand, held a retreat meeting with the Thai delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on 18 February 2026.

 

Both sides cordially exchanged views on further strengthening the existing ties of friendship and coop­eration between Myanmar and Thai­land. The two Ministers discussed ways to enhance multi-sectoral coop­eration, including trade, investment, education, and public health. They also deliberated on promoting peo­ple-to-people connectivity, including matters related to Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand.

 

Furthermore, both sides dis­cussed intensifying collaboration between the two countries, particu­larly in jointly combatting transna­tional crimes to enhance border se­curity and stability, including illegal cross-border trade, online scams, hu­man trafficking, and drug trafficking, as well as strengthening cooperation in regional and international fora.

 

Following the meeting, the Un­ion Minister and delegation attended a working dinner hosted by the Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs. — MNA
