MYANMAR is in Group B for the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers, following the lot-drawing event held on 29 May.
The qualifiers will take place from 3 to 9 September, with a total of 44 teams divided into eleven groups of four. Based on the draw results, Group A includes Jordan, Turkmenistan, Chinese Taipei and Bhutan. Group B consists of Japan, Kuwait, Myanmar and Afghanistan.
Group C features Vietnam, Yemen, Singapore and Bangladesh. Group D includes Australia, China, Timor-Leste and the Northern Mariana Islands. Group E has Uzbekistan, Palestine, Kyrgyzstan and Sri Lanka.
Group F includes Thailand, Malaysia, Lebanon and Mongolia. Group G has Iraq, Cambodia, Oman and Pakistan. Group H consists of Qatar, Bahrain, India and Brunei. Group I features the UAE, Iran, Hong Kong and Guam. Group J includes South Korea, Indonesia, Laos and Macao. Group K consists of Tajikistan, Syria, the Philippines and Nepal.
Matches for Group B, which includes Myanmar, will be hosted by Myanmar as the home team, and the fixtures are set to be held at the Thuwunna Youth Training Centre in Yangon.
Myanmar U22 team for the qualifiers is currently under the leadership of Japanese head coach Kurosaki, and the squad is undergoing training with over 30 primary players. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
