Myanmar will cooperate with ASEAN countries to launch new cultural projects in the ASEAN region in 2024-2025FY, according to the 24th ASEAN Cultural Sub­committee Meeting.

 

The country hosted the 24th ASEAN Cultural Subcommittee Meeting for the third time in Yan­gon yesterday.

 

It hosted the 4th meeting in 2002 and the 14th meeting in 2013. Being a member of ASEAN, My­anmar pledges to gain the objec­tives of the founding of the ASE­AN community including peace and prosperity together with the ASEAN member countries.

 

Since the establishment of the ASEAN Committee for Cul­ture and Information in 1978, the enhancement of cooperation in the fields of culture and informa­tion has played a key role.

The theme of the 24th ASEAN Cultural Subcommittee Meeting was Honour the ASEAN with Cul­ture. The intention of the meeting was for the interests of the people of ASEAN regions as well as pre­serving the peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

 

The meeting focused on completed cultural-related pro­jects, ongoing projects and new projects to be implemented in ASEAN regions in 2024-2025FY.

 

It was attended by the Union minister, the deputy minister, the Yangon Region social affairs min­ister, the Yangon mayor, heads of missions from embassies of the ASEAN countries, representa­tives and invitees. — ASH/KTZH
