MYANMAR and Japan signed Exchange of Notes on 1 September for a Japanese yen 30 billion loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Loan Agreement. The loan is intended to remedy social and economic impacts caused by COVID-19 pandemic.

The Exchange of Notes was signed by Myanmar’s Deputy Minister for Planning, Finance and Industry U Maung Maung Win and Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Ichiro Maruyama. The Loan Agreement was signed by Myanmar’s Treasury Department Director-General Daw Si Si Pyone and JICA Myanmar Office Cheif Representative Sakakura Noriji.

A regular session of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw has approved the loan intended to be used for prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 and for providing assistance to remedy social and economic impacts caused by the crisis.
