THE Myanmar national Judo team returned to Yangon on the evening of 14 April after securing five gold, four silver and three bronze medals: totalling 12 medals at the Penang JICA Invitational Judo Championship 2025 held in Penang, Malaysia from 11 to 13 April.
Team Myanmar was warmly welcomed back at Yangon International Airport by officials, students and athletes from the Institute of Sports and Physical Education (Yangon). Officials also awarded a K1 million cash prize in honour of the team’s achievement.
Medal winners included Ma Ei Chit Hsu San (-36 Kilogramme), Ma Yoon Wady Soe (-70 Kilogramme), Ma Htike Htike Kyaw (-55 Kilogramme), Ma Poe Ei Ei Lwin (-57 Kilogramme), and Ma Nang The Nu Nu San (+78 Kilogramme), who each won gold medals.
Silver medalists were Shan Kaung Set Paing (-24 Kilogramme), Kaung Kin Min Sit (-28 Kilogramme), Aung Zay Htet (-32 Kilogramme), and Ma Phyo Shwe Zin Kyaw (-70 Kilogramme), while bronze medals went to Ma Khit San Nan Htut (-32 Kilogramme), Myat Phone Khant (-38 Kilogramme) and Thant Zin Win Aung (-81 Kilogramme).
The competition saw participation from over 200 athletes representing 31 teams from 12 countries, including Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Australia. — Arkar Linn/ KZL
