The Myanmar Kidney Foundation (MKF) held its anniversary at International Business Center in Yangon yesterday, attended by Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor U Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe and Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye.
First, the President of the MKF Dr Hla Aung explained the goals and functions of the foundation.Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe said the foundation is prioritizing the preventive measures under specific goals in addition to providing treatment. He elaborated on the benefits of preventive measures against kidney disease. Eating less salt, controlling body weight and blood pressure, reducing blood sugar and staying away from taking compounded medicines are the means to prevent kidney failure and other diseases, he said.
He then explained the ill effects and dangers of kidney disease that may even kill a patient, promising coordination among the medical related bodies to combat the disease.
President of the foundation Dr Hla Aung and Vice President Dr Win Naing thanked the donors for their contribution towards the trust fund of MKF. In the afternoon, Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe met the chair, vice-chairs, the secretary, the joint secretaries and the executive committee members of the newly formed Myanmar Nurse and Midwife Association.—MNA (Translated by TMT)
