Embassy of the Republic of Korea and Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture jointly arranged a cultural performance commemorating 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations and aired it yesterday amidst COVID-19.
The event was opened with pre-recorded video congratulatory remarks by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko and Korean Ambassador Mr Lee Sang-hwa.
In her remarks, the State Counsellor called the joint performance a good example where it utilized technology to overcome many challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic.
Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko expressed hope that the two countries could keep holding that kind of performance in the future based on the close friendship, wishing the two countries’ friendly relation lasts forever.
Korean Ambassador Mr Lee Sang-hwa also expressed his hope that the creative movement of the performance would bring together the melody of each performing team to become a friendly harmony of the two countries.
In the performance, Korean side performed fork dances with UNESCO intangible heritage songs: Gangang Sullae and Pyeong Taek Nong Ak while Myanmar performs entertained Graceful Nine Gems Dance.
Korean folk music band played Myanmar song “Latti” in Korean style.
Myanmar’s boy idol group Project K visited Korea this year.
