Health professionals from the University of Public Health, the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine from the medical universities and the University of Community Health will attend the 11th International Conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-region Countries (11th GMS-ICPH) which will be held in Vientiane of Lao PDR from 17 to 19 October.


Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe met with these medical experts and delivered a speech at the University of Public Health in Yangon yesterday morning.


The Union Minister asked them to share and discuss idea, experience and lessons on public health-related fields and to link with other international health experts and networks at the conference.


He also advised reapplying the knowledge gained from the conference in their research works and the public health sector. The Union Minister then invited the healthcare staff to attend the Department of Medical Research (Pyin Oo Lwin Branch), to learn English language skills and to develop research works.


Then, Myanmar delegation led by Professor Dr Hla Hla Win from the University of Public Health introduced their research papers and posters to be presented in the conference, and explained the plans to reapply knowledge gained from conference at the relevant institutions.


The conference will be held with the theme of “Improving Health Equity among Greater Sub-Mekong Region: A Public Health Challenge”, and will be attended by the teachers of public health universities and researchers from six Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) countries Cambodia, Lao PDR, China, Myanmar, Viet Nam and Thailand.
