Tachilek 6 March

Thai immigration officials transferred twelve Myanmar undocumented workers to Myanmar authorities at the No.2 Friendship Bridge in Tachilek, Eastern Shan State on 5 March.

The Myanmar migrant workers were detained for working and residing in Thailand illegally without proper documents. Myanmar authorities from the General Administration Department, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Anti-Human Trafficking Police Force and the Caring and Negotiating Committee for Myanmar Citizens (CNCMC), a Mai Sai-based welfare society helped the migrant workers return their homes in a safe and secure manner.

The number of Myanmar migrant workers who were deported from Thailand from 1 January to 5 March reached 247 men, 140 women and 17 children totaling 404.—Sai Aung Zaw Lin (IPRD)
