MYANMAR Ambassador to Nepal U Myo Myint Maung called on Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal Dr Arzu Rana Deuba at the Ministry of For­eign Affairs of Nepal at noon (Nepali Standard Time) on 9 June.

 

At the call, they frankly discussed bilateral friendship, relations between the peoples of both countries, further co­operation in the enhancement of diplomatic relations, and preparations of Myanmar to hold a general election.

 

Also, present at the meet­ing together with the Nepali Foreign Minister were officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Myanmar Ambas­sador was accompanied by the deputy head of mission of the Myanmar Embassy to Nepal.

 

“Before the establishment of the official diplomatic rela­tions in 1960, Myanmar and Nepal have been maintaining amicable relations,” said My­anmar Ambassador Wunna Kyaw Htin U Myo Myint Maung at the reception event to mark the 77th Anniversary of Inde­pendence Day of Myanmar and the 65th Anniversary of Estab­lishment of Myanmar-Nepal diplomatic relations held on the evening of 4 February 2025, at the Myanmar Embassy in Kathmandu.

 

Myanmar and Nepal have long-standing bilateral rela­tions based on mutual affec­tion, friendship, religion, and culture. The two countries of­ficially established diplomatic relations on 19 March 1960. Nepal has opened an embassy in Yangon, and Myanmar has opened its embassy in Kath­mandu, actively engaging in diplomatic affairs and foster­ing friendly relations between the two nations. — Htun Htun/ TTA
