MYANMAR women’s football team will play against the Thai team in the semifinal of the ASEAN Women’s Championship in Manila, the Philippines today.
Team Myanmar’s match will begin at 2:30 pm Myanmar Standard Time, while Viet Nam will also take on the Philippines in the other semifinal match to be held at 6:30 pm Myanmar Standard Time. The Myanmar team finished in second place after the group matches, so they had to play against Thailand, who finished first in the other group.
Myanmar and Thailand met in the group stage of the 31st SEA Games in Viet Nam in May 2022 and drew one goal each.
The Myanmar team beat Timor-Leste 7-0, the Cambodian team 3-0, and the Philippines by three goals to one while losing to Viet Nam by four goals in the final group game.
The Myanmar team had already qualified for the semi-finals before the match against Viet Nam, and since they had to play the semi-finals with only a day’s rest after the match against Viet Nam, they only used substitute players in the match against Viet Nam for the line-up players to play to their full strength in the semifinal.
The Thai team, which will play against the Myanmar team, did not lose in the group matches. The Myanmar team has reached the final of the 2015 ASEAN Women’s Championship.
In later years, the team was just pleased with the semi-finals stage and is aiming for a place in the finals this year.
