UNION  Minister  for  Trans-port  and  Communications  U  Thant Sin Maung received Mr E Jingping, Minister for Water Resources of the People’s Re-public of China, and party at his office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

During  the  meeting,  they  exchanged views on water re-sources  sector  cooperation,  and  also  signed  the  memorandum  of  understanding  on  cooperation in the field of water resources  between  their  two  ministries.

The  MoU  includes  drawing up strategies, policies and plans for water resource development, water resources management cooperation, flood and drought  management,  monitoring  and  forecasting  data  related  to  hydrology,  water  resources  management  and  conducting technical trainings and cooperation on the agreements  on  water  resources  by  the two countries. 

The  Union  Minister  then  hosted a luncheon for the Water  Resource  Minister  of  the  People’s Republic of China and party at the Horizon Lake View Resort Hotel. 

The  People’s  Republic  of  China Water Resource Minister  will  conduct  a  study  tour  along  the  Yangon  River  on  6  November.
