THE Myanmar rowing team secured two more gold medals and one more silver medal at the ICF-hosted Dragon Boat World Cup, which also serves as a qualifier for the 2025 World Sports Championships in Chengdu. Competing against leading international teams, Myanmar performed strongly and added to its medal count yesterday.
In the men’s 200-metre 10-oar event, Indonesia won gold, Myanmar took silver, and Thailand claimed bronze. In the 500-metre mixed 10-oar event, Myanmar earned the gold, with Thailand taking silver and Indonesia bronze. Myanmar also won gold in the men’s 2,000-metre 10-oar race, with Hong Kong and Russia taking silver and bronze, respectively. The team achieved fourth place in the 2,000-metre mixed 10-oar event.
Overall, Myanmar’s Rowing Team competed in eight events, finishing with five gold and two silver medals, and a fourth-place position. The competition featured 18 teams, including participants from China, Europe, Asia, and ASEAN countries. The Myanmar team will now head to the 2024 ICF Dragon Boat World Cup in Puerto Princesa, the Philippines, departing on 27 October. — MNA/KZL
