THE China-ASEAN Sepak Takraw Cham­pionship continued on 2 June, during which the Myanmar Sepak Takraw team won its first gold medal.

 

The men’s and women’s Sepak Takraw regu events were held on 1 and 2 June, and the Myanmar Sepak Takraw team won one gold medal and one bronze medal.

 

In the men’s regu event, the Myanmar team won the gold medal. During the group stage, they defeated the host team, China and Malaysia with 2-0 wins in both matches and advanced to the semifinals as a group leader. In the semifinals, Myanmar beat the Laos team 2-0, and in the final, they faced Malaysia again and won 2-1 to claim the gold medal. In the women’s regu event, the Myanmar team secured the bronze medal.

 

The quadrant event of the Sepak Takraw Championship will continue on 3 and 4 June, with the Myanmar team participating. In the men’s quadrant event, Group A includes Malaysia, Vietnam, and Myanmar, while Group B includes Chi­na, Laos, and Thailand. In the women’s quadrant event, Group A includes China, Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia, while Group B consists of Vietnam, the Philip­pines, and Laos. — Tun Thway Eain/TTA
