Organized by Yangon Region Government and Myanmar Traditional Lethwei Federation, the MLWC-Myanma traditional Lethwei championship commemorating the 76th Independence Day will be held on 4 January 2024 (1 pm local time) at National Indoor Stadium-1 with six rounds.
Myanmar’s Kyaw Swa Win will face Fonsari (Thailand) in the main event while Myanmar’s Rahman will take on Worletchalit (Thailand) in the co-main event.
Other bouts will feature fights of Ko Ko (Cement Factory) vs Taing Kyaw (M2K), Moe Hein (Cement Factory) vs Naing Aung Shin (Lethwei Warriors), Thu Ye Kaung (Cement Factory) vs Kaung Sett Naing (Yoeyar Kyar) and Saw Ba Hein (Cement Factory) vs Aphoe Thway (Lethwei Warriors).
“Originally, it was planned to have Kyaw Swa Win fight with Wijit. But Wijit fought in January, so we changed a boxer. Fonsari has played Lethwei in Myanmar and was tied with Soe Lin Oo. He is currently playing in the ONE championship,” said the match organizer.
“Similarly, Rahman was scheduled to fight Awathan, but Awathan broke a bone in his hand during the one championship match on 8 December, so he missed two months. So he was replaced by Thai Fight and Max Muay Thai champion Worletchalit,” he added.
The event will be held at the National Indoor Stadium-1 (Thuwuna) with a capacity of 10,000 people for all Lethwei fans to watch. Only 100 tickets worth K50,000 and 100 tickets worth K30,000 will be sold for those who want to watch near the ring. All the other fans can enjoy the whole event for free. — Bala Soe/KZL
