THE number of Myanmar tour­ists visiting Bodh Gaya may increase during Thingyan, ac­cording to some travellers and travel companies.

 

Since the opening season, domestic tourists have been visiting local and international pilgrimages, sightseeing tours, and beach trips. Outbound des­tinations of Myanmar people include Thailand and Bodh Gaya.

 

Pilgrimage operators said that families and friends are planning to visit Bodh Gaya during the upcoming summer holidays and Thingyan.

 

“We are planning a fami­ly pilgrimage to Bodh Gaya in March, as it is the summer school holiday. Some of my friends have a plan to go there during Thing­yan. I have seen many potential travellers to Bodh Gaya,” said an intended traveller.

 

In the pilgrimage tour, trips to Bodh Gaya, Varanasi (aka) Sarnath, Ganges river, Kaushambi, Sankissa, Agra (Taj Maha and Red Fort), New Delhi, vault of sacred relics, Ak­shardham Temple, Shravasti, Kapilavastu, Lumbini, Kushina­gar, Vaishali, Patna, Rajghur and Nalanda are included.

 

Thailand may be one of My­anmar’s most visited outbound destinations in Thingyan, said U Naung Naung Han, vice presi­dent of the Myanmar Tourism Federation. — MT/ZN
