Myanmar wins gold in Billiard, silver in Shooting, bronzes in Canoeing & Petanque

THE 31st South-East Asian Games, hosted by Viet Nam, is being held at stadiums in various cities.

 

At the English Billiards Individual Finals event at the Ha Dong Stadium in Hanoi, Myanmar Billiard player Pauk Sa won a gold medal after beating Peter Gilchrist, a Singaporean who won six gold medals in the South-East Asian Games, and another six gold medals in the World Billiard Championship by 3-1 yesterday.

 

The Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs awarded another US$3,000 to him for awarding the fifth Gold Medal for Myanmar.

 

In the quarterfinals, Myanmar defeated host Viet Nam by a three-set margin and then went on to play Thailand in the semifinals, beating Thailand by 3-1.

 

Maung Ye Tun Naung, a Myanmar sniper, won a silver medal in the 50-metre Free Pistol event held at Hanoi National Sports Training Centre yesterday.

 

Next, the Myanmar team won a bronze medal in the Mixed Triple Event of Petanque.

 

In Hai Phong, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Myanmar and Thailand competed in the women’s 1,000-metre individual Conoeing event. Myanmar athlete Ma Thet Phyo Naing won the bronze medal in the tournament.

 

Aung Myo Thu from the 1,000-metre Men’s Individual Canoeing Event, Tun Min Thant, Htet Wai Lwin, Saw Moe Aung and Myint Ko Ko from the 1,000-metre four-ore Event, and Win Htike, Sai Min Wai, Min Naing and Thant Zin Oo from 1,000-metre Men’s Canoeing Event reached Final yesterday.

 

Myanmar has won 22 medals in total including five gold medals, six silver medals and 11 bronze medals and is ranked 7th at the 31st South-East Asian Games. — MNA
