Myanmar wins third place in Jenesys Japan-Asean U-19 Football tourney

Myanmar U-19 national football team won third place in the Jenesys Japan-Asean U-19 Football Tournament,which was held in Kagoshima, Japan from 26 to 29 February.


In the third place match, Myanmar U-19 team played against the Laos U-19 team, and the match was played to a draw of 1-1. In overtime, both teams played for the penalty shoot out to choose the third place winner.


Myanmar won by 3-2 in the penalty shoot. Penalty shots for team Myanmar were kicked in by Yan Naing Lin, Lwin Zaw Maung and Thet Hein Soe and Nyi Nyi.


Team Myanmar missed the opportunity to advance to the final match when Myanmar U-19 lost to Cambodia U-19 0-3 in their semifinal match played on 28 February.


Team Myanmar made a great showing in the group match of the tourney with a big victory over the Japanese Junior Football Club.


During the group match played on 27 February, team Myanmar beat Timor Leste by a 3-2 result during the penalty shootout and team Myanmar also trounced Japanese Kagoshima U-18 FC 7-1 on 26 February.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
