Myanmar women’s team beats Malaysia 5-0, advance to semifinal

THE Myanmar women’s national football team advanced to semifinal after beating Malaysian women’s national team 5-0 in the 30th South East Asian Games yesterday at the Binan Football Stadium in Binan, the Philippines yesterday.

Being the winner of Group A, the Myanmar women’s football team was awarded K 20 million by Patron of Myanmar Football Federation U Aung Ko Win and President of the MFF U Zaw Zaw.

In the semifinals, the winner of Group A Myanmar will meet the runner-up of Group B Thailand at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila and the runner-up of Group A host Philippines will have to play against the winner of Group B Viet Nam at the Binan Football Stadium in Binan on 5 December.

Head coach of Myanmar women’s national football team said it was satisfied with being the group winner and advancing to next level.

Despite weakness in the last part of the match, we would correct our weaknesses in semifinals.

“A My team got targeted goals and advanced to next level. I praised all the players.” he added.

The match between Myanmar and Thailand will be held at 6:30pm (Myanmar Standard Time) on 5 December. — Kyaw Khin
