In celebration of Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation Day, a tree planting ceremony was held on the morning of 3 July within the compound of the Computer Science Department at Polytechnic University (Myeik), located in Kyauk Phyu Taung Village, Myeik Township, Tanintharyi Region.
The event brought together around 650 participants, including Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, regional ministers, the Chairperson of the Region Women’s Affairs Federation, officials from Myeik District and Township-level departments, university faculty, students, and invited guests.
The ceremony commenced with Chief Minister U Myat Ko, regional ministers, and senior officials planting saplings of Thingan, mahogany, and khayee in designated planting zones. Following this, the Chairperson and members of the Region Women’s Affairs Federation, along with district- and township-level departmental officials, the Pro-Rector of the university, faculty members, students, and other attendees collectively planted a total of 605 trees. These included 100 Thingan, 100 Khayee, 55 Kantkaw, 100 Pyinkadoe, 30 Mahogany, 200 Manjasha, and 20 Seinpan saplings.
After the planting, the Chief Minister and accompanying officials toured the planting sites to observe the community-wide effort.— Myint Oo (Myeik)
