A total of 193 warehouse facilities for rice storage have been registered on the online registration platform – Myanmar Rice Online (MyRO) so far, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF).
The MRF has informed warehouse operators and wholesalers to register on MyRO at www.myro.com.mm. This registration is necessary for the procurement of more than 5,000 baskets of paddy or over 50 tonnes of rice. The aim is to ensure rice price stability, establish a systematic approach to rice export, guide the market to avoid price manipulation, maintain rice stocks at supermarkets and wholesale shops in a systematic display, and develop a warehouse financing system.
As of 13 January 2023, 193 warehouse facilities in Yangon, Ayeyawady, Bago, Mandalay, and Sagaing regions, Rakhine State, and Nay Pyi Taw Council Area have been registered. The federation encouraged the remaining facilities on 12 January this year to proceed with registration.
On 3 January, the Department of Consumer Affairs notified the MRF, affiliated associations, regional, state, district, and township-level sub-associations, as well as related committees and depots, to conduct registration matters promptly. Companies and individual entrepreneurs are also urged to register on MyRO following regulations. Supermarket chains are instructed to register for rice sacks on display and stocks at warehouse facilities, according to the MRF.
