MYANMAR’S National Cancer Centre (NCC) has expanded cancer treatment services by operating two specialized departments — Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology — to provide more effective care for cancer patients.
The centre offers chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy and radiotherapy, with treatment overseen by cancer specialists from Yangon General Hospital. Emergency cancer cases continue to be treated at Yangon General Hospital, while new and follow-up patients are referred to the NCC.
The NCC accepts patients with most types of cancer, except blood cancers and related diseases. Outpatient clinics operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with registration required before 11 am.
Since beginning inpatient services in July 2025 following the completion of new hospital buildings, the centre has treated 796 inpatients and 11,529 outpatients as of 10 June, according to healthcare sources.
The NCC is expected to become a leading national cancer treatment hub as it continues to strengthen staffing, facilities and cooperation with Yangon General Hospital. — TWA/ST
