Nattalin, 9 June
Nattalin Township in the Bago Region is preparing to cultivate 110,262 acres of rain-fed rice as part of an effort to boost the local rice supply.
The township primarily grows rice varieties such as Sinthukha, Yadanartoe, Vietnam, Hmawbi-3, and Thaihnankauk. According to the Department of Agriculture, this year’s plan includes the cultivation of rain-fed rice across the entire 110,262 acres using various farming methods.
To enhance rice productivity, the Department of Agriculture is distributing high-quality rice seeds and promoting good agricultural practices. It is also organizing training sessions and seminars on the timely and effective use of both chemical and organic fertilizers, rice salting techniques, and pest prevention and control methods.
Additionally, awareness campaigns are being conducted to support farmers in growing alternative crops and ensure that all recommended practices are implemented effectively and correctly.— Wai Yan Phyo (IPRD)
