THE Nay Pyi Taw Council held a ceremony yesterday evening at the Zabuthiri Hall to present the victory flag and host a celebra­tory dinner for the Nay Pyi Taw sports team, which will compete in the Fifth National Sports Fes­tival of 2024.

 

During the event, the Chair­man of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, who also serves as the Patron of the Nay Pyi Taw Sports and Physical Education Commit­tee, encouraged the athletes to compete with full sportsman­ship and determination across all disciplines. He urged them to strive not only to win and bring honour to Nay Pyi Taw but also to become exemplary athletes who bring national pride. He as­sured that deserving recognition and rewards would follow their successes and called for collab­orative efforts to achieve victory at the festival.

 

The Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman presented the victory flag and K435.463 million in fund­ing to U Myint Soe, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Sports and Physical Education Committee, and U Khin Zaw, Director-Gener­al of the Nay Pyi Taw Sports and Physical Education Department.

 

Following this, the chair had dinner with the athletes, coach­es, supervisors, team managers, and officials participating in the festival.

 

Nay Pyi Taw will compete in 23 sports disciplines with a con­tingent of 450 members, compris­ing 347 athletes, four team lead­ers, 96 supervisors and coaches, and three referees. — MNA/KZL
