THE rice exhibition held in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory received 400 visitors, and of them, about 180 bought Pawsan rice, according to a statement released by the Myanmar Rice Federation on 17 March.
Jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce, the Department of Consumer Affairs and the MRF, the event was held on 13 March at the Myoma Market in Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
At the event, samples of the most-consumed rice varieties, their quality and nutritional values and prices were displayed, and cooked rice, tea leaf, and dried fish were served.
Kyapyan, Myaungmya Pawsan, Pyapon Pawsan, Yekyi Pawsan, Bogale Pawsan and Kyaiklat Pawsan, produced from Ayeyawady Region, are the most-consumed rice varieties due to their reasonable prices, just between K120,000 and K140,000 per bag, and drew most of the visitors.
DOCA director general, MRF chair and guests from governmental departments attended the exhibition, which was opened by DOCA regional head, Nay Pyi Taw Rice Millers’ Association chair and Nay Pyi Taw Rice Traders’ Association chair. — MT/ZS
