According to the Ministry of Health, the Naypyitaw Academy’s Faculty of Medical Sciences will commence a two-year basic medical education course in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area starting coming November.

The Naypyitaw State Academy, located in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, aims to produce highly-qualified human resources required for the country’s development by offering graduate classes, including master’s and doctoral courses.

The academy was founded with the purpose of achieving the same level of excellence as leading universities in the country, such as Yangon University and Mandalay University.

Students who have the opportunity to attend Naypyitaw State Academy should pay close attention to the qualification of their education. On 8 September, Union Minister for Health Professor Dr Thet Khaing Win emphasized the importance of appointing faculty members for undergraduate courses in the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Naypyitaw State Academy, addressing administrative measures and resources replenishment issues to ensure access to modern teaching materials. He stressed the need for coordination between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education.

The academy is set to launch the doctoral programme in six subjects. To facilitate this initiative and foster collaboration with Indian universities, Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe and Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Vinay Kumar held a meeting on 4 September.

During the meeting, they discussed the possibility of sending more scholars for programmes related to ICT, artificial intelligence, marine science, microbiology, English language, business management, vocational education, and teacher training. High-ranking officials from Indian education departments and directors-general from the Myanmar side engaged in a video conference to discuss the potential for offering Open University courses online and the recruitment of more scholars. — TWA/KZW
