A new border crossing facility at the Kawthoung International Land Border Checkpoint between Myanmar and Thailand was opened.

This new building, located in Anawa Ward, Kawthoung city, Taninthayi Region, is to facilitate border trade and tourism, enhance the socioeconomy of the residents and ensure a systematic border crossing.

Container ships and trawlers increasingly dock at the Kawthoung Pier. That 60-year-old building was renovated as an international border crossing facility by preserving Myanmar’s arts and culture. This 120-foot-long, 60-foot-wide, and 14-foot-high RC building was developed by Naung Yoe Myanmar Development Company with the use of K1.69 billion from the regional government budget starting from 2023. — ASH/KK
