A ceremony to open a new market named “Bogyoke Aung San Market” was held in Phado Town, Bago Region this morning.
The new bazaar was formally opened by Chief Minister of Bago Region U Win Thein, Speaker of Bago Regional Parliament U Khin Maung Yin, Regional Minister for Environmental Conservation and Municipality Dr. Saw Nyo Win and the chairman of the market construction committee by cutting a ceremonial ribbon and sprinkled scented water on the stone inscription of the market.
Next, the regional chief minister delivered an opening address and regional lawmaker U Lin Lin Kyaw explained matters relating to the new market. The chairman and secretary of the market construction committee then handed over documents relating to the market to the chairman of the township development committee. The regional minister also presented a certificate of honour to concerned officials and the chief minister and party viewed round the new market and cordially greeted the locals.
The new market built by Moe Hlaing Toe Construction Company at a cost of more than Ks. 1.3 billion consists of 536 stalls measuring 10 ft. and 8 ft. in width.—Tin Soe (Bago)
