A diversion dam over Nanlai Creek near Byantgyi Village, Wuntho Township in Sagaing Region is being built by the Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department and the project is near completed.
The original small dam benefits about 200 acres of farmland from two villages. But if constriction of diversion dam is finished, it will benefit 50 more acres of farmland, Sagaing Region MP U Zaw Lin Oo said. “We are very happy with the construction of the diversion dam. We would cultivate crops in all seasons thanks to the diversion dam built by the government,” U Sein Maung, a farmer from Byantgyi Village said.
The diversion dam is being built by a private construction company with Ks. 235.20 million allotted by the local government in the current fiscal year and the project as a whole is 99 percent completed.
