Hpa-an, 18 June
Vehicles are allowed to traverse the newly-built Naunglon Bridge on the Hpa-an-Naunglon-Jai Raod which is vital for proper flow of trade to Hpa-an, Kawkareik and Myawady in Kayin State.
The new bridge was built in parallel with the old one. The new facility is 400 ft. long and 14.63 meter wide and has a 0.91 meter wide pedestrian walkway on each side. The bridge’s clearance is 2.79 meter high and it can withstand up to 60 tons of weight. The Special Bridge Group 14 embarked for construction of the bridge on 1 November 2017 and the project was cent percent completed.
The bridge is widely seen as a major trade route along the Hpa-an-Kawkareik-Myawady Road and the border area between Myanmar and Thailand.
