Ngape, 2 July

Farmers in Ngape Township, Magway Region, have planted 13,593 acres of oilseed crops during the current rainy season, surpassing the township's target of 13,532 acres, according to the Township Agriculture Department.

The rainy-season cultivation, which began in June, includes 12,899 acres of sesame, 418 acres of peanuts, and 276 acres of sunflowers. Sesame remains the township's main oilseed crop, with rain-fed varieties selected to suit local soil and weather conditions.

To help improve oilseed production, ensure local edible oil sufficiency, and increase farmers' incomes, the Township Agriculture Department has been promoting good agricultural practices and providing technical guidance and field supervision to farmers throughout the planting season.—Ma Yu (Ngape)
