Myanmar and Nicaragua plan to promote cooperation in diplomatic relations and various sectors, including economy, culture and tourism.

 

Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing accepted the Letters of Credence from Mr Segundo Martin Calero Escorcia, newly accredited Ambassador of the Re­public of Nicaragua to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at the Credentials Hall of the Office of the National Defence and Security Council, Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday morning.

 

On the occasion, the Senior General and the Nicaraguan ambassador highlight­ed the standing of the Republic of Nica­ragua for Myanmar in the international landscape, and the situation to enhance practical cooperation in multiple sectors between the two countries.

 

They emphasized discussions on boosting diplomatic relations and coop­eration between the two countries, plans to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including economy, culture and tourism between them, and efforts for further pro­motion in cooperation between Myanmar and Nicaragua.

 

Moreover, they cordially discussed the holding of a multiparty democratic general election in Myanmar, the activ­ities of election observation teams from international communities including the Nicaraguan ambassador to Myanmar at the Myanmar’s election, the enthusiatic casting ballotts by people during the elec­tion, the holding a successful election due to no major complaints for the election till today, and the preparations to convene the Hluttaw sessions in the near future.

 

After the meeting, the Senior General and the newly accredited Nicaraguan am­bassador to Myanmar had documentary photos taken.

 

Also, present at the meeting were Commission Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe and Director-General U Thet Tun of the Protocol Department. — MNA/TTA
