No casualties were reported in a warehouse fire in Ward-8, Shwebo Township in Sagaing Region, according to a source from U Aye Min, Assistant Director of the township fire brigade.
The fire broke out at a silo belonging to a man named U Si Thu, 33 years old in Ward-8, Shwebo at around 7:15 p.m. on 30 October. Upon receiving information about the fire, a group of firefighters together with policemen, members of the Red Cross Society, volunteers and local people rushed to the scene of fire. They brought the blaze under control at about 8 p.m. and completely put out the flame 25 minutes later by using five fire engines, two water tankers and one supportive vehicle.
The fire that destroyed a silo is believed to have started from an overheated invertor inside the warehouse. The estimated loss of property due to the fire is about Ks. 1.3 million. The owner of warehouse is being questioned over fire negligence by the local police.
