Myawaddy, 31 October

Seven people were killed and 11 others were injured in a traffic accident on 30 October at about 4:00 pm  in Kayin state.

The accident took place near the descending arch of the betel nut farm on the Myawaddy-Kawkareik Asia Road, when a Hiace car carrying 19 passengers heading Myawaddy Township lost control and hit a Hiace car driven by Aungpyae Phyo loading food products heading Kawkareik Township.

The vehicle collision killed seven people including four men and three women on the spot, and 11 others were injured. The bodies and injured passengers were sent to Myawaddy General Hospital. Authorities filed charges against the two for their careless driving.—Htein Lin Aung(IPRD)
