A total of 13,698 acres of monsoon pigeon pea have been harvested in Yenangyaung Township, Magway Region, according to the Yenangyaung Township Agriculture Department.
In Yenangyaung Township, pigeon pea is widely grown in May and June, alongside oilseed crops such as sesame and peanuts, providing local farmers with a dual source of income.
Officials from the Yenangyaung Township Agriculture Department have provided farmers with techniques to expand pigeon pea cultivation and increase yields. In total, 15,289 acres of pigeon pea have been planted in Yenangyaung Township, and as of now, 13,698 acres have been harvested, with a yield of 12.27 bushels per acre, according to the department.— U San Nyunt (Yenangyaung)
