Myeik, 23 March

The construction of the Minthan-Maunghlaw Concrete Bridge over the Tanintharyi River, which connects Myeik and Kyunsu Townships in Tanintharyi Region, has been completed 100% and is set to open soon.
“The construction of the bridge began in 2018, and it was completed in 2025. The bridge is now ready for motorcycles and cars to cross. However, it will be officially opened to all local residents following the opening ceremony, the date of which has not yet been announced. The bridge is now operational. For residents of Myeik and Kyunsu Townships, who previously relied mostly on waterways for travel, this bridge will now allow them to travel directly by land,” said a local resident.
The bridge, which cost Ks 13,910 million (over Ks 13 billion), connects Minthan Village in Myeik Township and Maung Hlaw Village in Kyunsu Township, according to an official from Construction Team (4) of the Bridge Department.
The bridge spans 2,100 feet (640 meters) in length, is 22 feet wide, and stands 26 feet high. It was constructed with funding from the Department of Rural Road Development (DRRD), under the Ministry of Construction.
The bridge will provide significant benefits to the local people in more than 30 villages across Myeik and Kyunsu Townships. Local residents will now be able to travel year-round for educational, healthcare, social, and economic needs.—Myint Oo (Myeik)
