UNION Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Ohn Win on 5 December inspected teaching and research activities of the University of Forestry and Environmental Science in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.

During the Union Minister’s visit, the Rector of the university provided information about the university and explained the situations related to lecturer recruitment, the criteria for admission to the university and the subjects taught in the university.

The Union Minister asked the lecturers about their teaching experiences and difficulties encountered in teaching activities.

In Myanmar, the forestry subject was first introduced at the University of Yangon in 1923, so the 100th anniversary of it will be held in 2023, according to the Union Minister, who urged the university officials to form working committees to prepare for the Forestry centenary celebration.

Then, the Union Minister and his entourage inspected the results of the Biodiversity Conservation Research Project jointly conducted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Yezin, Forest Research Institute and the Southeast Asia Biodiversity Research Institute. He told the researchers to publish the results of the research in English and Myanmar languages.

The Union Minister also inspected the plan to hold the 32nd Forest and Environmental Research Paper Reading Session (virtual session). The Union Minister said that summaries of the research should be prepared in both English and Myanmar languages and posted on the official website and the official Facebook page in advance.

After that, the Union Minister and his entourage inspected the activities of the Plant Tissue Culture Lab.

At the Forest Research Institute, the officials explained the implementation of the Integrated Forest Ecosystem Management Planning and Demonstration Project in Mekong Subregion (Myanmar), which has been carried out in collaboration with Asia Pacific Forest Rehabilitation and Sustainable Management Network (APFNet).
