THE director and officials from the Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Bagan Branch), together with a team from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), inspected the maintenance work in the Bagan Ancient Cultural Heritage Zone yesterday morning.
Maintenance work is currently being carried out on Pagoda No 697 (Hsinphyushin Pagoda), No 1499 (Meenyeingon Pagoda), No 1670 (Maha Bodhi Pagoda), No 1976 (Shwekuncha Pagoda) and No 1668 (Shwehteesaung Pagoda).
The mural painting section is currently conducting research and coordination to ensure that the work is carried out safely, that the original ancient artworks are not damaged, and that appropriate conservation work is undertaken. — Dipalin/MKKS
